When I am accepting clients the following information is pertinent.
For online scheduling, select the link and you will be redirected to my Client Portal. If you are a new client, select "New Client" and then select an appointment time that works for you. Once a time is selected, I will review the request and you will receive e-mail notification of either the acceptance of your request or encouragement to select another time.
I do not provide emergency services and am not available 24 hours a day. Please see the Crisis Community Resources Page for more information and call 911 if there is any imminent threat or danger to you or others.
I accept self-pay clients as well as those with insurance. I am currently paneled with Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, Optima, and United Healthcare. I am still in the process of being paneled with other various insurances. If I am not yet approved for your insurance, I will accept your copay until the process is completed. Other options for payment can be discussed should you require different arrangements.
FEES: My standard private practice fee is $90 for a 50 minute session. Initial intake sessions are $120.00. A portion of this fee may be covered by your health insurance. In addition to weekly appointments, I charge this amount, or a pro-rated portion thereof, for other professional services to include report writing, telephone conversations lasting longer than 10 minutes, consulting with other professionals - with your permission, and the preparation of records or treatment summaries. There is a $35 return check fee, regardless of reason. Missed appointments will be charged at a rate of $90 if notice has not been provided a minimum of 24 hours in advance. Please note that this and other charges you may incur are not reimbursable by your insurance. I provide a sliding scale for those who are in need of services but lack the resources to pay full service fees. This can be negotiated at the time of coordination of services and scheduling. Proof of income or support will be requested to support the indicated need. PHI may be shared for the purposes of treatment payment and a third party biller is used to engage with insurance companies on behalf of Shawn Patrick McNulty, LPC and OutKind Counseling.
LEGAL FEES: Unfortunately, this is sometimes is necessary. If, for some reason, you should become involved in legal proceedings which may require my participation, it is expected that you will pay for my professional time which will include preparation and transportation costs, even should it be that my involvement was due to court demands made by another party with whom you are connected. These involvements are time consuming and typically interrupt normal scheduling for the practice and, for this reason, I charge $165 per hour for preparation and attendance at any legal proceeding.
LETTERS IN SUPPORT FOR MEDICALIZATION FOR CLIENTS WHO IDENTIFY AS TRANS* OR GNC: For those who are regular clients, there is no charge for medical (hormone or surgery) referral letters. If you are not a regular therapy client, it is important to note that both having the opportunity to get to know you and to determine that you possess informed consent for treatment, in addition to constructing the letter, requires professional time. Letters require, at the minimum, a single session with me at the full session rate, plus a second session during which time the letter would be constructed jointly to ensure accuracy and applicability. It is important to note that, as a clinician, it is up to my discretion to determine that it may be necessary to engage in more than one therapy appointment to ensure a client's safety. This determination will be made at the end of the first session and you will be informed. Please let me know at the time of scheduling your appointment if this is your primary reason for coming to see me.
